Photographer/Social Justice Activist Barbara Parmet
The Roots and Branches Project will tell the stories of our wise elders and youth and the visions they hold for the future. The project will be presented as a multi-media exhibition displaying large-scale oak branch fractals on the walls and an audio video presentation with words and pictures telling Santa Barbara’s communal stories.
Time and Time again with Australian-American Photographer/Writer Brett Leigh Dicks
On Sunday, June 25, Brett will present the first talk and photography pop-up of Facing Ourselves Presents – a new series designed to inspire meaningful conversations and passion about our shared world. He will show and discuss a selection of recent work from Australia, including an expose undertaken for The New York Times on the eccentric underground desert town of Coober Pedy, his recent Lunch Bars series examining these uniquely Western Australian working-class culinary curios, a documentation of remote outback communities for the State Library of Western Australia, and a recently awarded fellowship that saw him serve as artist-in-residence at the Museum of the Goldfields, working on a repeat photography project based on the Western Australian Museum’s historic Dwyer & McKay Collection.
Tickets for this event are donation based. Please RSVP.
