COMMUNITY CONVERSATION: ITALIA

In 2018 the community of Martignano, Italy, gathered in their 15th c. palazzo to celebrate the surprise installation of Facing Ourselves: Martignano portraits on billboards throughout their community. There was the Mayor, grandparents, parents with small children, school kids, City Council folks and elders, all coming together to talk about how their inclusion of “others” into their midst made their community so special. The evening ended with everyone gathering outside to have a photograph taken so that it could be brought back to America as a gesture of solidarity, love and appreciation.
